This is Jessica who was so kind and answered 7 questions for me and send me some pictures of her. The photos have not been taken by me.
1. What is your greatest struggle?
"My greatest struggle is being separated from my husband 90% of the time and sacrificing my teaching career for his army career."
2. What was your worst experience with the army?
"My worst experience is when I miscarried in December 2015 and they wouldn't let my husband come and be with me despite him only being an hour away. That was particularly tough especially being on a foreign posting with no family support around."
3. What are you proud of?
"I am incredibly proud of how hard working my husband, his never give up attitude and all he has accomplished! I find his inspiring!"
4. What is your favourite part about army life?
"My favourite part of the army would be the support you get from your fellow army families."
5. What was your best experience with the army?
"I am still waiting for my best army experience."
6. What advice would you give your younger self if you could go back in time?
"This is a tough one to answer ... If I could give any advice to my younger self it would be to not be so naive when it comes to army life, to accept that my husband will be gone for every important moment despite what the army tell you! To be more passionate about my career and less Compromising when it came to putting it on the back burner and that it is okay being a little selfish sometimes ! That I don't have to give up who I am to support my husbands career."
7. Is there anything you would like to add?
"Army life is tough, not for the faint hearted! Not only do you have to deal with tough situations on your own but live with the stigmas associated with being an army wife ! The good times are amazing and make me appreciate my husband so much! However the bad times are rough and can make you feel incredibly lonely / isolated! Over the last few years I have watched many marriages fall apart and it has been heart breaking and scary! Reality checks are always around the corner ... I wouldn't change my husband or his passion for the army for anything in the world however I wish it didn't have to be so hard x"
